asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish a list showing for each year since 1979 the residual life statistics derived from deflectograph surveys of the motorway network in each year.

Regular deflectograph surveys of the English motorway network started in 1983. Estimates from the 1983 and 1984 surveys give approximate residual live figures for the network as follows:—
