asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what information he has as to the number of teachers in post in Warwickshire; and how that figure compares with the figure for 1979;(2) what information he has as to the number of pupils in schools in Warwickshire; and how that figure compares with the figure for 1979;(3) what information he has as to the current pupil-teacher ratio in Warwickshire; and how that figure compares with 1979;(4) what information he has as to the number of educational advisers in post in Warwickshire; and how that figure compares with the figure for 1979.

The numbers of teachers and pupils and the pupil-teacher ratios in Warwickshire in 1979 and 1984, the latest year for which full information is available, are as follows:

The Department does not routinely collect figures of educational advisers but information obtained specially from the local education authority is that there were 16 advisers in post in both January 1979 and January 1984.
