asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the latest figure for the output of (a) production and construction industries and (b) manufacturing industries in Scotland, as a proportion of output in June 1979.

The index of industrial production and construction for Scotland is compiled quarterly, and the latest available information relates to the fourth quarter of 1984. For the sectors requested, output in that period as a proportion of the figure for the second quarter of 1979 was as follows:
