asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, when he next meets the chairman of British Rail, he will raise the matter of increases to the British Rail cheap intercity saver return fares scheme; and if he will make a statement.

The decision was British Rails. It is the board's responsibility to determine fares. I will, however, draw my hon. Friend's concern to the chairman's attention.
