asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the current level of the exchange rate and its effect on economic prospects.

At close of business in London last night, the sterling effective exchange rate index stood at 80ยท6. The strength of sterling in recent months has further enhanced the prospects of lower inflation over the next year.
