asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the role of sub-post offices in issuing vehicle licences.

Sub-post offices form an essential part of the vehicle relicensing service, especially in rural areas. At present about a quarter of all licence renewals are carried out at over 1,500 sub-post offices throughout the country.
