Lord James Douglas-Hamilton
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much was spent on each person resident in (a) Scotland and (b) the Lothian region in respect of National Health Service funding in Scotland in each of the last five years.

The information requested is given in the table to the latest available year. The figures are based on expenditure on hospital and community health services and on family practitioner services (net of charges retained by practitioners). Details of expenditure by the common services agency and on programmes managed centrally by the Department are not available for health board areas.
