asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if he has any proposals for providing unemployed people with advice and information through centres for the unemployed; and if he will make a statement;(2) how many centres for the unemployed are currently funded by the Manpower Services Commission; and if he will make a statement on his proposals to provide further help and assistance to unemployed people.
The Manpower Services Commission currently funds 79 community programme projects providing advice and information through centres for the unemployed. The additional help to be provided for unemployed people was detailed by my right hon. Friend in the debate on the Budget Resolutions and Economic Situation on 21 March at columns 1024–1026 and in his statement on youth training on 1 July at column 24.
