asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement about the latest progress of the feasibility study into the building of a second Severn crossing.

Detailed work is in hand and consultations are being held on the options for the two corridors about which my right hon. Friend informed the House on 1 April 1985. We expect the study to be completed by the target date of August 1986.
