asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will publish in the Official Report a list of steel plants which have been closed or substantially closed since May 1979 and the plants which have been scheduled for closure in substantial part, together with the number of jobs lost in each case.

The following list covers closures involving more than 100 employees, and partial closures estimated to have resulted in the loss of more than 500 job opportunities, which have taken place since May 1979 or are scheduled to take place shortly.
