asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he proposes to give a substantive reply to the hon. Member for Alyn and Deeside's letters of 5 July, 11 June, 26 April and 26 February 1985 and 11 December 1984, concerning the case of Mrs. A. Carr of Clwyd; and if he will make a statement.

I regret the delay in dealing with this difficult and complex case, and have written again to the hon. Member to explain the current position.
