Lord James Douglas-Hamilton
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether his Department's consultations with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities concerning possible amendments to the Children Act 1975 to be proposed as amendments to the Law Reform (Parent and Child) (Scotland) Bill are proceeding satisfactorily.
Mr. Ancram
Yes. In response to a consultation document on implementation of the provisions in the Children Act 1975 dealing with the custody of children a number of bodies commented on the proposals for amendment to those provisions made by the Scottish Law Commission in its report on illegitimacy (Scot. Law Corn. No. 82). These comments are being taken into account in our consideration of possible legislation based on the commission's general proposals.
