asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what support his Department gave to voluntary organisations in 1984–85.

We believe that the voluntary and informal sectors make a vital contribution to meeting needs in the health and personal social services fields. We have therefore increased the total real value of our grants to voluntary organisations by 121 per cent. between 1978–79 and 1984–85. voluntary organisations which received grants in 1984–85 are listed in the tables.
