asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the latest position as regards the implementation by his Department of the recommendations which affect its responsibilities of the report of the Finer committee on one-parent families.

Most of the relevant recommendations of the Finer committee report were endorsed in DOE circular 78/77 or implemented by the Housing Act 1980. The Department's booklet "One Parent Families: Help with Housing", which was produced in 1978 in the light of the Finer committee's recommendations, has been substantially revised and updated; the new version will be published shortly.
