asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has yet received the report from Lord Peyton's review committee on the future of the Eggs Authority; and if he will make a statement.
The report is now available and will be published today. Copies are available in the Vote Office and the Library. I am grateful to Lord Peyton and his colleagues for having so promptly completed their difficult task. The committee's principal recommendation is that the authority should be dissolved, though not before the end of 1986—which it considers would give all sections of the industry an opportunity to evolve alternative arrangements for continuing those of the authority's functions which are thought to be necessary for the future. My colleagues and I will now be inviting comments on the report and will reach conclusions on its recommendations in the light of those comments.
