asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if his Department makes adjustments to the Resource Allocation Working Party's formulae to take account of the numbers of patients receiving private medical care and treatment.

No adjustments are made at national level. The Resource Allocation Working Party recommended that in distributing resources to health authorities within a region, regional health authorities should have regard to special local factors such as the extent to which alternative facilities relieve or add pressure on the National Health Service.
