asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, when he next meets the Governor of the Bank of England, he will discuss with him the value of commercial bills owned by the bank.

My right hon. Friend regularly meets the Governor to discuss financial developments in the context of the medium-term financial strategy. I am sure he will have noted my hon. Friend's suggestion.
