Results from the general household survey published in OPCS Monitor GHS 84/1 indicate that over the period 1981 to 1983 about 13 per cent. of families with dependent children in Great Britain were lone parents with dependent children.As a very small proportion of households contain more than one family, the figure for households will be about the same as that given above for families.
