asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has concerning the average age of hospital buildings in England and Wales; and how this figure compares with that for the north-west region.

Information in the table relates to the hospital building stock in England and Wales as a whole. The pattern of stock within the north-western region is not thought to vary significantly from the national picture.
