asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if his Department has any plans to help local authorities deal with repairs to housing stock transferred from the Greater London council; and if he will make a statement.

On abolition, the housing capital allocation which would have been given to the GLC for renovating transferred stock in 1986–87 will be distributed to transferee authorities according to need. Housing capital receipts accruing to the London Residuary Body will be distributed to the boroughs pro rata to HIP allocations. The boroughs will be able to secure the services of GLC specialist staff, using, if they wish, the good offices of the London Residuary Body.
