asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the level of British nuclear weapons, in the light of the Reagan-Gorbachov summit.

The position of the United Kingdom deterrent in relation to arms control has been made clear to the House on a number of occasions, most recently by my right hon. Friend the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary in the Debate on the Address on 8 November at column 227.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish in the Official Report a copy of the reply from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces of 17 June to the chairperson of Christian CND on the circumstances in which nuclear weapons may lawfully be used; and if he will make a statement.
