asked the Paymaster General (1) how many women, who are single, widowed or separated, with dependent children under 16 years of age, have had benefit terminated because of refusal to accept employment, for each of the years 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985 to date.(2) how many men over 60 years of age claiming unemployment benefit had their benefit terminated because of failure to accept work, for each of the years 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984.

Information about the marital status, dependency position, age and sex of people who are disallowed unemployment benefit on various grounds is not separately recorded for statistical purposes.

asked the Paymaster General how many students were claiming unemployment benefit at 10 November.

These figures are not collected on Sundays. I refer my hon. Friend to my reply of 14 November at column 230 for the latest figures. The next figures, relating to 14 November, will be published on 5 December.
