asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will now review the percentage of the proceeds from the sale of council houses that local authorities are allowed to spend each year.

The prescribed proportions are reviewed each year as part of the process of arriving at decisions about public expenditure in the following year. The Government are also currently reviewing the capital control system, and decisions about the prescribed proportions for 1987–88 must await the outcome of that wider review.
