asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he proposes to take to ensure th adequate organisation and funding of an occupational health and safety service for the National Health Service which complies with the International Labour Organisation Convention 161.

[pursuant to her reply, 2 February 1987, c. 549]: The Government are awaiting the advice of th Health and Safety Commission on whether to ratify th Convention. Meanwhile I am advised that current guidance to health authorities is broadly in line wit Recommendation 171 which supplements International Labour Organisation Convention 161.
