asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will break down figures for expenditure on the Trident programme into its constituent parts, showing separately (a) expenditure on any communications programme identifiable and (b) any component costing 5 per cent. or more of the total.

The main cost elements of the Trident project are as follows:

As I indicated in my reply of 23 February at column

139 to the hon. Member for Workington (Mr. Campbell-Savours), communications equipment forms part of the tactical weapon system. The whole weapon system equipment accounts for 21 per cent. of the overall Trident project estimate.
