asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what recent representations he has received about the qualifications for receipt of mobility allowance; and if he will make a statement.

We regularly receive representations about the various aspects of the qualifying conditions for mobility allowance. Recently, a large proportion has been in support of extending the medical eligibility criteria to include disabled people who can walk but who are not independently mobile. Many of these representations have referred to deaf-blind people in particular.
