Mr. Watts
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many dwellings were renovated with the assistance of Estate Action in 1986; and how many he expects to be renovated in the current year.
Mr. John Patten
I have approved Estate Action schemes in 1986–87 benefiting nearly 53,000 dwellings. Of these, nearly 1,000 will be brought back into use to house the homeless. The scale of these benefits will increase significantly in 1987–88, when the resources we are making available through Estate Action will increase by 50 per cent. to £75 million.
