asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the practice of his Department in cases where costs of acquiring trials equipment have been incurred, with regard to keeping records of trials performances, compiling trials reports and producing subsequent conceptual papers; and if he will make a statement.

The results of trials conducted in the Ministry of Defence are recorded and usually incorporated into a formal report. Lessons learned in trials are incorporated in the reports and may, as appropriate, contribute to subsequent concept papers along with other material.
