asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many National Bus Company subsidiaries have been sold and to whom; what price was paid; and if he will make it his policy to pay compensation to the passenger transport authorities for the assets they previously held.

Twenty-eight National Bus Company subsidiaries have so far been sold, 18 of them to their own managements and 10 to outside purchasers. The prices obtained in individual disposal are confidential while sales are in progress; a report will be made to the House in due course on the aggregate proceeds of sale.

I am not aware that any subsidiaries or former subsidiaries own assets previously held by passenger transport authorities or their executives for which due payment has not already been made.
