asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the current situation relating to the disposal of the National Bus Company's subsidiaries.

The National Bus Company is making excellent progress: 28 companies have already been sold and I look forward to approving further disposals shortly. I am particularly pleased that 18 of the subsidiaries have been bought by their own managements and that employees are being given the opportunity to acquire shares in the businesses.
