asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he intends to lay before Parliament the statutory order designating the Mourne mountains an environmentally sensitive area.

A number of sites throughout Northern Ireland are being investigated but decisions have not yet been taken on which will be considered in detail for potential designation as environmentally sensitive areas in 1988.

The enabling Order in Council will shortly be laid before Parliament. The statutory rule designating the Mournes and Slieve Croob as environmentally sensitive areas will be made as soon as possible after the coming into operation of the order.
