asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with the Government of Pakistan about the situation in Afghanistan and the problem of refugees from Afghanistan.

We remain in close touch with the Pakistan Government. As I told the House in the Adjournment debate on 5 March, Afghan refugees continue to flee into Pakistan: at least 85,000 over the last year. We condemn the recent callous and bloody bombing raids into Pakistan, which killed over 110 innocent civilians and Afghan refugees, and cast a pall over Soviet professions to want a peaceful settlement.
