asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the per capita cheese consumption in the United Kingdom in the last year for which figures are available; and what percentage of this cheese was produced in France.

Consumption of cheese in the United Kingdom is estimated at 6ยท5 kg per capita in 1985. There are no statistics on the consumption of cheese produced in France but imports of cheese from France in 1985 were equivalent to 3 per cent, of consumption in that year.
