asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will introduce a notification system for derelict land and buildings in private ownership that are capable of redevelopment within a subsequent period of five years.

The periodic survey of derelict land carried out by my Department includes information on the extent of such land in private ownership. I have no plans to extend the scope of the survey, nor to require private owners to notify me of the redevelopment potential of their land.
