asked the Secretary of State for the I-tome Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Avon about the police investigation into the deaths of two scientists in Bristol in 1986; and if he will state the branch and specialisation of the police officers involved.

I understand from the chief constable of Avon and Somerset that the police investigation into the deaths of Mr. Dajibhai and Mr. Sharif have been completed. The coroner recorded an open verdict in the case of Mr. Dajibhai and a verdict of suicide in the case of Mr. Sharif. The police investigation was conducted by divisional CID officers under the supervision of a senior CID officer at Headquarters.
