asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a interim report on the progress made by the working party which he has established to review the carrying out by the building industry of smaller building contracts, including the effects of competition from the black economy.

The working party have met twice. At its next meetings it will be considering the scope for industry-wide warranty/guarantee schemes and the marketing of firms trading legitimately.
