asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether guidance is given by his Department to chairmen and members of licensing boards in Scotland to assist them in the performance of their duties.

While the Scottish Home and Health Department has offered guidance to licensing boards on the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976, under that Act it is for each board to determine how its provisions should be applied within its area.
