asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give the amount received in Clwyd in the form of the various loans and grants by the European Economic Community for each of the years of United Kingdom membership.

Details of identifiable EC grants and loans are as follows :(2) when he expects the proposal for an accident and emergency consultant for the casualty unit at Singleton hospital to be put before the Welsh Medical Manpower Committee; by what criteria that committee makes its recommendations; when he expects to be able to announce a final decision; and if he will make a statement.

Approval for the establishment of a new consultant post by a district health authority in Wales is a matter ultimately for my right hon. Friend. By agreement with the medical and dental professions, my Department's consideration of applications for the establishment of such posts follows on advice from the Welsh Medical and Dental Manpower Committee, which is composed of leading members of the professions in Wales.In considering any particular proposal, the Committee generally has regard to all the circumstances of that case: this will normally include service need, the professional content of the proposed post and its location within the operational and professional structure of the health authority.My Department has requested further information from the West Glamorgan district health authority about its proposal to resolve the operational difficulties of providing 24-hour cover at the accident and emergency
