asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps his Department takes to ensure that the allocation of properties by housing trusts complies with the aims and policies of equal opportunity; and if he will make a statement.

[pursuant to his reply, 22 April 1987]: To qualify for public funds, housing trusts must register with the Housing Corporation, which issues guidance to ensure that allocations, which are made primarily on the basis of need, do not discriminate against particular groups.
