asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, pursuant to his answer of 3 April, Official Report, columns 652–3, he will publish information available to him as to how many (a) mentally ill, (b) mentally handicapped and, (c) elderly people have been discharged from hospitals on a regional health authority basis under the care in the community programme for each year since it was introduced.

A breakdown by regional health authority of the figures supplied in my earlier reply is given in the table.by health authorities in England showing total current expenditure on hospitals categorised as pre-convalescent and convalscent for each year from 1979 to date.
