asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he expects to be able to make a decision on an application for £6 million urban development grant towards the cost of building a hotel as part of Birmingham's international convention centre by 28 February.

A decision will be made as soon as possible on the application for £6 million grant to the proposed five-star hotel, but in view of the complexity of the application and the large amount of grant sought, I cannot say whether it will be before 28 February.
