asked the Secretary of State for Energy, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Meirionnydd Nant Conwy on 22 April, Official Report, column 547, if he will set out (a) the number and dates of all meetings to which he refers held so far, (b) the occasions when he has been present personally, (c) the number of departmental officials involved and (d) the organisations involved in the discussions; and if he will make a statement on progress to date.

It is not Government practice to reveal details of meetings held in confidence with other bodies. Discussions are continuing, and I shall make an announcement in due course.

asked the Secretary of State for Energy, pursuant to his reply of 22 April, Official Report, column 547, on the Layfield report recommendations, if he will set out the nature of the considerations of security and commercial sensitivity on which discussions are taking place; and whether the safeguards divisions of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Euratom have been involved in the discussions.

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave him on 29 January at column 327. Safeguards issues will.be taken into account as appropriate.
