asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will consider an investigation into a long-term strategy for Britain's airports making provision for increases in passenger movements balanced with protection of the environment, into the next century.

No. My right hon. Friend is satisfied that the 1985 White Paper "Airports Policy" (Cmnd. 9542) adequately sets out a strategy for the provision of airport capacity and associated environmental protection.
