asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on collaborative helicopter procurement.

It remains our policy to procure helicopters to meet the requirements of our forces through collaboration with our allies, whenever it is practicable and cost-effective to do so. Thus we are, as my right hon. Friend made clear in his statement to the House on 9 April, maintaining our full support for the Anglo-Italian EH101. We are also engaged, together with our Italian, Dutch and Spanish partners, in studies of a light attack helicopter based upon the Agusta Al29.
