asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representations he has received following the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals campaign to amend the Protection of Animals Act 1911 and the introduction of the Private Member's Bill by the hon. Member for Bury. South (Mr. Sumberg).

Since 1 March, we have received 459 letters from right hon. and hon. Members about the campaign by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. From members of the public we have received 347 letters about the campaign and 17,650 postcards pre-printed by the RSPCA as part of its campaign material.
