asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list each of the Government Departments currently in discussion with the London residuary body regarding grants still outstanding in respect of Greater London council activities prior to abolition.

My Department is in discussion with the London residuary body about the payment of outstanding Government grants for which provision has been made in the GLC's 1985–86 closing accounts. I understand from LRB that it is also in discussion with the Home Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Manpower Services Commission about various such grants.
