Hospital Waiting Lists

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the average waiting time for National Health Service hospital beds for non-urgent operations in the Lothian health board area and Scotland respectively, for each year since 1979.

Information distinguishing urgent and non-urgent cases is not held centrally. The mean waiting times (in days) for operative treatment in the Lothian health board area and Scotland up to 1985 (the latest year for which statistics are available) were as follows:—
