To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many accidents to motor cyclists have been caused by motor car drivers for each year since 1979.
The Government's road accident statistics do not apportion blame. Statistics of injury accidents involving a car and a motor cycle—which represent 55 per cent. of all accidents involving a motor cycle — do, however, distinguish the main types of manoeuvre being undertaken. Information on cases in which the car turned right into the path of the motor cycle is as follows:
|Year||Number of car-motor cycle injury accidents||Number of such accidents in which car turned right into the path of the motor cycle|
