To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the cost of payments covering (i) maternity grants, (ii) death grants and (iii) cold weather by each of his Department's offices in (a) Liverpool, (b) Knowsley, (c) Sefton, (d) St. Helens, (e) Wirral, (f) Clwyd and (g) Gwynedd for 1986–87.

I regret that information is not available about the cost of payments of maternity grants and death grants in any particular locality. Information about exceptionally cold weather claims made during the winter of 1986-87 for each local office in Great Britain, including the total amount paid, is in the Library.
