To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what progress is being made in appraising the performance of civil servants.

All Departments have introduced or are introducing staff appraisal systems for all non-industrial staff. These systems assess the results achieved by staff against agreed objectives. They have been generally well received by staff and managers alike.
